8/7/1999: Salmon R., M. Fk., Boundary Creek to Cache Bar

| This first day of our second week, our outfitter bussed us to the Boundary Creek put-in managed by the Forest Service. A DC-area paddler named Mike Aronoff had organized the trip and hired an outfiter who provided us with three gear rafts rowed by guides and a paddle raft for our non-boaters, steered by a fourth guide. The river was too low for the gear rafts, so they waited for us at another access point 20 miles downstream. That first day was a long day on the river -- about 25 miles of our 105-mile trip! Poor Colleen had been doing well with her cracked ribs up until now, but paddling really hurt her. Nevertheless, she paddled most of the 105 miles. |
