7/11/2006: Taylor R., Upper Taylor; Lottis Creek to South Bank access

With: Jon Hitchings, Karen Egbert, Gisela Padmali, Bernie Culpepper
We left the tents set up and drove over Cottonwood Pass and ran the Taylor river (Lottis Creek CG to South Bank Access) at 442 cfs on the Almont gauge.

Coming down from the pass as we neared the Taylor Reservoir we were treated to the sight of an old-style cattle drive, with cowboys riding horses being assisted by dogs.

The Taylor was higher than it was the only other time I ran it, and it was the most fun we had on the entire trip, but it was also the scene of the most carnage we experienced, with three of us swimming. Jon and I comfort ourselves with the knowlege that neither of us had another swim on the trip.

Went back to BV so late that no-one wanted to cook, so we had dinner at Jan's Restaurant, sneaking in five minutes before closing time, then we slept a second night in the San Isabel NF camping area.
