7/24/2010: Colorado R., Pumphouse access to Radium access

| Karen and Jim, officers of the RMCC, showed us to the put-in and led us down the river in the only tandem canoe we saw on our trip, although everyone else was paddling solo whitewater boats. This section of the Colorado was very tame at this level, Class I with a few Class II moments in a short but beautiful gorge. After paddling, RMCC stalwart Mary, who was heading home, dropped me at the put-in to retrieve my van, which had been the shuttle vehicle. That night the RMCC had a Dutch Oven cook-off potluck dinner, and we all stuffed ourselves silly on some terrific camp cooking that humbled our supermarket-bought contributions. |
