2/24/2013: Banister R., Cherrystone Cr. to Mt. Airy

With: David Bernard, Trent Fentress

This was a day trip organized by David Bernard for the Coastal Canoeists. A good level for this stretch is probably 500 cfs or more on the Halifax gauge, but these photos were taken at 250 CFS -- boatable, but too low to be really enjoyable.

The trip begins on little Cherrystone Creek, several hundred yards above the Banister. The river is mostly flat with several ledge sections that might wash out into mild wave trains with more water, until the last half-mile or so before the take-out, where there is a concentration of higher ledges that might make a fun sequence with more water.
