We drove in my van and Dick's SUV through Harmon (US-33), Dryfork (WV-32), and Red Creek (WV-72), then down River Road to the riverside, where we unloaded and dressed a quarter-mile up the graveled stretch of road.
Dick decided the river was too low for him, but we staged my van at the takeout next door to PJ's Pizza in Parsons and Dick shuttled me back before he went hiking in the Otter Creek Wilderness.
The rest of us had a lovely run on the Dry Fork/Black Fork; there were just two or three spots where we had to scratch across cobbles, and except for a few headwinds, the weather was mostly sunny. At this level, this was another Class II/III run, though some of the hungrier ledge-holes could give a novice boater a bad time if (s)he were inexperienced enough to blunder into one of them.
We had dinner -- pizza or spaghetti -- at PJ's, and went back to Seneca Shadows. |
