11/3/2018, Lake Marion: Sparkleberry Landing

With: Cat Monaghan, Tom Monaghan, David Blumberg, Merridee Harper, Stan Stutz, Pat Stutz, Gary Mason, Laura Mason

I was invited by my friends David and Merridee to join the Greenville, SC, Foothills Paddling Club's annual Paddle and Low Country Boil event at Sparkleberry Landing in Poinsett State Park.

There were about thirty people there, but I only knew four of them going in, and only retain the names of four others, including Cat and Tom, the organizers, and Gary and Pat.

After boating we returned to the campground for an incredible Frogmore Stew, AKA Low Country Boil: a huge cauldron filled with shrimp, sausage, corn-on-the-cob, potatoes, and more, all boiled up together and served by simply emptying the drained cauldron onto the 30-foot long paper table cloth, for which David was the Chef and Merridee the Master of Ceremonies.
