We took David's truck and my van, and dropped Joan off at the airport again, then drove north on FL-79 to set shuttle. We put in at a nice boat-launch at the end of an obscure dirt road off FL-277.
About a mile downstream, after having had the river completely to ourselves, we paddled up a side creek to the beautiful clear Cypress Spring, where we watched a number of other people swimming and splashing in the springwater.
We took out at Vernon Park, a somewhat dilapidated -- possibly hurricane damaged -- county park just north of the FL-79 bridge over the creek. We ate dinner at a nearby mom'n'pop burger joint named Jacket's Nest, which caters to, and is decorated with memorabilia and photos of, the Washington County Yellowjackets highschool teams. |
