9/25/2019, Rio Grande: Wagon Wheel Gap to the Green Bridge

With: Chris Kelly, David Bernard, Beverly Smith

Again Chris fixed us breakfast, and we met David and Beverly at Poncha Springs to drive down to the Rio Grande headwaters upstream from South Fork, CO, northwest of the San Luis Valley. After paddling we ate at Mountain Pizza and Taproom in South Fork, CO, and then I hit the road back toward Flagstaff.

I headed west on US-160, drove through Wolf Creek Pass, and camped just off CO-151 on the Southern Ute reservation near Chimney Rock. It was a nice tribal park named Lake Capote Recreation Area.
